Selfcare Detox

After months of crazy busy days, little sleep, and lots of splurging on foods and cocktails, I desperately felt like my whole life needed a detox. Then Coronavirus hit and suddenly my mind was just filled with all the things I wanted to clean out, organize, and get rid of. And I do not just mean my closet and rooms in my house – I wanted to detox my entire life. Which is why today I am sharing my self-care detox plan.

I hope y’all are as excited about this as I am! I feel like I might subconsciously detox my life every year during this time, but I wanted a way to be more intentional about it. And what better way to do that than create my own little guide system? I hope you guys find them helpful and come back to them again too!

SELF CARE DETOX

I am going to break down exactly what I have done for myself lately from a self-care perspective.

Over the past few months, I realized I needed a fresh start in so many ways. I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I could to take care of myself so I dove deep into how I could clean up my headspace, my skin, my diet, and my exercise game. Let’s start with my skin and I’ll go from there!

SKIN

A lot of the products I mention here I also share on my social media pages, so if you have any questions or want more info, check there my website or those outlets for more detail about certain product.

OK, if you watch my Facebook and Instagram pages regularly then you see me talk and share about all the products I use on my skin from my head to my toes. But to give y’all more details on everything I did for my self-care detox so you can do something similar at home, here’s a breakdown:

Scalp

The scalp is a place a lot of us forget about I think, but since I don’t wash my hair with shampoo but one every week or longer and the amount of dry shampoo I use, I knew I needed a good scalp moment. I washed my hair with my normal shampoo and then used my dry brush scalp massager before adding a dime size of conditioner. This basically made me feel like a whole new person. It is designed to remove all the build-up and exfoliate dead skin to improve scalp and hair health. Not only does it offer a relaxing head massage, but it has been proven to stimulate scalp and hair follicles.

Facial Exfoliation

Next, I wanted to exfoliate my facial skin, so I grabbed Rodan + Fields Recharge Mask. I am seriously obsessed with it. It smells amazing and I can feel such a big difference in my skin after using it. After using, everything looked smooth and polished. It was such a delightful perk!

Body Exfoliation + Moisturizing

I highly recommend exfoliating your legs and arms with Rodan + Fields Microdermabrasion Paste! I am in love with this product and it was EXACTLY what my skin needs.

To finish it all off, I wanted to moisturize. I have been using Rodan + Fields Active Hydration and am also in love with it. There is a trend happening here with Rodan + Fields products LOL. They are perfect for everyday use but also when you want to detox because it is a brand you can trust to not put any harmful ingredients in their products.

Headspace

Something I have learned over the last few years is that self-care is so much more than taking bath and doing masks. Those things are great, but I am someone who believes that you are never going to feel 100% if your mind is not also being taken care of. Whenever I am feeling overwhelmed by the constant comparison game of social media or overthinking something, I really try to take a step back and breathe. My way of doing that is by doing a brain dump or going on a nice long walk.

Brain dumps are the BEST way to completely clear out your mind. Meditation and yoga are great, but there are times that I just need to grab my journal, a pen, and just write down anything and everything that has been weighing on me. If your mind needs a detox, I highly, highly recommend doing a brain dump ASAP.

Diet and exercise

We did a gut reset cleanse during the coronavirus, so I have been a bit more conscious of what I am eating lately and building exercise into my daily routine more consistently. I am drinking celery juice first thing in the mornings, and not tracking calories or pounds, but I am drinking more water and being more aware of the food items I choose. I also made a commitment to myself to walk or bike every day. It is a small goal, but it made me feel so good! Walks and bike rides always help me clear my cluttered mind, which is the point of a detox, right?!

Sleep

I had to make sleep part of this plan because my nighttime routine has been kind of out of whack. But also because sleep is SO IMPORTANT!! When I am not sleeping well it seems like everything else just spirals out of control. I step away from technology for 30 minutes before bed, I stretch a little, and have a cooling eye mask.

So there’s my version of a self-care detox! It might look a little different for everyone, but I think the biggest thing about a detox is knowing you need one!
