Hey everyone! Come on in, pull up a chair, and let’s talk about stress for a second—specifically, what happens when your nervous system feels like it’s running 47 tabs in the background, half of them are frozen, and there's random music playing from somewhere you can't find.

We’ve all been there, right? That moment when someone tells you to "just think positive!" or "take a deep breath!" and you want to gently (or not so gently) throw a pillow across the room.

Here’s the truth: when you’re stuck in a chronic stress loop, forcing a mindset shift just doesn't work. Your body is in fight-or-flight mode, and your brain isn't listening to pleasant affirmations.

Enter EFT Tapping.

Now, before you start thinking this is some kind of woo-woo magic or mystical fairy dust—let’s clear the air right now. Tapping is not magic.

It is a physiological pattern interrupt.

How It Actually Works

When you tap on specific somatic points—which align with the body's energy meridians—you are sending a direct, physical signal to your brain (specifically your amygdala, the body's alarm system) that says, "Hey, we are actually safe right now."

It works with your nervous system instead of trying to fight it. Instead of demanding that you "calm down" or pretend everything is fine, tapping physically discharges the stored stress from your body. No forced positive thinking, no intellectualizing your feelings, and no faking it until you make it. Just pure, somatic relief.

It literally interrupts the circuit breaker of chronic stress so your nervous system can catch its breath.

Try This 2-Minute Desk Sequence Right Now

Got two minutes? You don't even need to stand up. Let's do a quick pattern interrupt right at your desk.

  1. Take a quick inventory: Scale your current stress level from 1 to 10. Where are you holding it? Clenched jaw? Tight shoulders? Heavy chest?

  2. Karate Chop Point: Take two fingers and gently, rhythmically tap the side of your hand (the fleshy part below your pinky finger). Take a slow, natural breath.

  3. Eyebrow: Tap gently at the inner edge of your eyebrows, right above the bridge of your nose.

  4. Side of the Eye: Tap on the bone at the outer corner of your eye.

  5. Under the Eye: Tap on the bone right underneath your pupil.

  6. Under the Nose: Tap in the space between your nose and upper lip.

  7. Chin: Tap in the crease between your lower lip and chin.

  8. Collarbone: Tap just below your collarbone where those two knobby points meet.

  9. Under the Arm: Tap about four inches below your armpit (roughly where a bra strap sits).

  10. Top of the Head: Tap right at the crown of your head.

Pause. Take a full, gentle breath out through your mouth, dropping your shoulders away from your ears. Re-check your stress number. Notice if your body softened even 5%—that’s your nervous system stepping out of the loop!

Ready to give your body a real break today? Read through today's post again if you need a refresher, and then take two minutes right now to run through the sequence at your desk. Your nervous system will thank you!
