Do you like to drink wine?
I do; in fact, I love wine!
I love the ritual of sipping wine with friends; the way wine can enhance a dining experience when paired nicely with food; and I adore sparkling wine and the way the bubbles make anything seem like a celebration.
In the past few years, however, I have had too many bad wine experiences at all price points. The problem is that most wine is loaded with undesirable ingredients; like added sugar, pesticides, gluten, and large amounts of sulfites.
Did you know that grapes are on the Environmental Working Group’s “Dirty Dozen” list? Meaning they are grown with excessive amounts of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and fungicides — the residue of which ends up in our glass of wine. This makes for a fattening, inflammation causing, bad habit.
We are all trying to make better choices about what we are putting in and, on our bodies, so why not include the wine you drink to that choice?
That’s why I switched to drinking organic wines; but guess what? They can be hard to find. I wasn’t sure if I would like them because I wasn’t sure how they would taste or exactly what I was getting. And to complicate things further, after more research I found out that organic wine and natural wine are two different things, who knew?!? Organic wine can have added sugar and gluten. UGH! So confusing!
Then I was introduced to a company that sources clean-crafted NATURAL wines. Meaning they test them for purity, certify exactly what you are getting, and bonus points they are DELICIOUS!
So know what is in your wine. Check the labels and do your research.
Since I have moved to drinking natural wines I have started sharing them over the holidays with family and friends, giving as gifts, and incorporating them when hosting my ladies night gatherings.
Because I am always trying to help people trade habits that have few or no health benefits for habits that can serve them better, I think clean-crafted wines, with no added sugar and chemicals, is a solution that makes our wine drinking healthier. Having it delivered to my front door, removes the problem of finding natural wines at local stores.
