Spring is Coming

The sun peeks out from behind gray clouds. Buds on trees left naked for months begin to unfold.

Spring is coming.

You can feel it in your bones. The warmth tucked away in winter begins to stir within. There’s new energy. The need to clean and revamp emerges from behind the satisfaction to do none of that.

Spring is coming.

The sweet scent of flowers blooming and the need to bring color to the dark places is irresistible. We can all see it. We can all feel it.

Spring is coming.

I find myself yearning for spring flowers to fill the house and deck way too early. My doors are left open inviting the crispy air that fills this time of year into our house causing me to burrow deeper under blankets yet peek out as the earthy scent fills the house. I still throw on a sweater, but I walk barefoot now. Every part of me is ready to dust of winter and welcome spring with open arms.

Spring comes at a time where we almost unconsciously take stalk of where we are. Life has entered a trend. Whatever resolutions we had in January, they are either going strong or long forgotten. We find ourselves deep into the routines of life. Amid a season shift, the urge to do something new, try something new, or scratch something off altogether is overwhelming.

But what if we treasured this time? What if instead of embarking on a new project or making another drastic move, we embraced this? What if we paused for a moment and gave ourselves to the routines of life that have happened? What if we took time to be present?

Seasons come swiftly. When we are knee-deep in the middle of one, it may feel as if it’ll never end. But, one day you’ll wake up and the below freezing night that had you grumbling as you shivered into bed will be met with a crisp, dewy morning that urges you to throw open every window and door. The silence that echoed through the night will be met with the melody of birds.

As spring comes quickly, I find myself looking and wanting more. Wanting more from myself, and more for you. This month, I will be welcoming the season changes by actively being present. Instead of rushing into the new thing, I will take time to unpack process, embrace late mornings, and observe the world around me.

This month isn’t about 5 ways to do anything. It’s about one way to do life and that is to live it---fully, wildly, boldly, and bravely.

With love and hope for all your dreams.
