Dreaming Again: A Guest Post

We each have unique ways of interpreting and manifesting our dreams. Some view dreams aspirations, while others perceive them as mere fantasies. In my opinion, dreams are goals ready to be realized by the dreamer. The dreams we envision are glimpses of the future that awaits us.

To gain deeper insight into this topic, I sought the perspective of someone very close to me. I asked my sister, Tristan Bettge, to share her interpretation by answering a few questions. I hope you find her insights enjoyable. And without further ado…

  • Have you ever thought of yourself as a visionary dreamer?

I never saw myself as a visionary dreamer, but upon reflection, I realize I have always been one, even though I never articulated it. Instead of just dreaming, I have always taken direct action. Throughout my life, whenever I had a vision or dream, I pursued it with determination, regardless of the challenges or difficulties. This proactive approach has been the driving force behind my accomplishments. Each vision acted upon has led me down a path of growth and self-discovery. It has taught me that dreams are not merely figments of imagination but blueprints waiting to be turned into reality. By embracing my inner visionary, I have learned to trust my instincts, navigate obstacles, and turn possibilities into tangible outcomes. Embracing this truth has empowered me to continue dreaming, acting, and shaping a future filled with endless possibilities

  • Have dreams ever held significance for you?

As a genuine Scorpio, I possess great tenacity. My dreams hold immense importance for me, and I possess the drive and endurance to pursue them until they are realized. I am not one to give up easily when faced with challenges. Like the scorpion, I have a strong will and determination that keeps me focused on my goals. With my innate ability to adapt and overcome obstacles, I am always striving to turn my dreams into reality. The passion that burns within me fuels my perseverance, guiding me towards success with unwavering determination.

  • Have you ever sensed that your dream life relied on someone else?

Before my divorce, my dreams were influenced by another person’s desires. Now, my dreams belong solely to me! While I have a partner who offers fresh perspectives and opportunities that shape my dreams, they remain my own. In this current stage of life, I believe it’s crucial for me to focus on myself and be true to who I am. With my kids grown and leading their own lives, it’s finally my change to pursue my own dreams. It's liberating to finally have the freedom to pursue your own dreams without any limitations. Embrace this chapter of your life with open arms and a courageous spirit. Your dreams are unique to you, a reflection of your deepest desires and aspirations. Allow yourself to explore new possibilities, take risks, and follow your heart wherever it leads you. This newfound independence is a precious gift, so cherish it and make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. Your dreams are waiting to be realized, and you have all the strength and determination within you to make them come true. Embrace this journey with confidence and enthusiasm, knowing that the best is yet to come.

  • Have your dreams evolved with changes in your life? If yes, how?

My aspirations have transformed over time. In my youth, my dreams revolved around stability and achieving the “American Dream” - from owning a home to raising children, even though those dreams may not have felt entirely mine back then. Now, in my 50’s, my dreams focus more on experiences and the emotions they evoke, rather than acquiring material possessions. In my 50s, I have come to cherish the richness of experiences more than ever before. The laughter shared with friends, the warmth of a hug from a loved one, the beauty of a sunset painting the sky in hues of orange and pink – these moments have become the true treasures of my life. I find myself seeking out opportunities to travel, to learn new skills, and to connect with people from different walks of life.

Gone are the days when my worth was tied to the size of my house or the brand of my car. Now, I measure my wealth in the depth of my relationships, the joy in my heart, and the memories I carry with me. I have learned that true fulfillment comes not from what I own, but from how fully I embrace each moment, how deeply I love, and how generously I give of myself.

As I look back on the journey that has brought me to this point, I am grateful for the evolution of my dreams. What once seemed like distant aspirations have now become the guiding stars of my life, leading me to a place of contentment and peace. And as I continue to grow and change, I know that my dreams will evolve with me, always pointing me towards a life filled with meaning and purpose.
