Exploring Your World - A Personal Expedition: A Guest Post

“when you want something, all the universe conspires to helping you to achieve it.” This quote is from the novel The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and it expresses the idea that if you have a strong desire and intention to achieve something, the world will align itself to help you. It implies that your desire is also the desire of the soul of the universe, and that you have the power to create your own reality. However it also requires that you work hard and be ready to seize the opportunities that come your way.

Guess who I’ve roped in for a heart to heart chit chat? Yep, my dear friend, Heather Tilson! She’s going to spill the beans on her take on this topic, and ‘m super stoked to share her thoughts with you guys! So, without more babbling from me, let’s hear it from Heather!

  • Do you ever wake up feeling like you’re living your life’s grand masterpiece?

Everyday I might not wake up feeling like I’m starring in life’s blockbuster, but there are those magical moments when I’m in the zone, and everything just clicks. I’m beaming, buzzing with good vibes, and lo and behold, even the critters and humans around me catch that happy bug!

  • Is there something that’s holding you back from living your best life?

Honestly, if I had to spill the tea on what’s stopping me from bossing life, it’s probably slacking on self-care. Time to pamper myself to the moon and back, so I can sprinkle that good energy onto everyone around me and rock at being the ultimate mom, buddy, and family superstar!

  • Here’s a weird one - ever been scared to see your dreams come true? Spill the beans, we’re all ears!

I’ve never been afraid to see my dreams come true, bring it on! I’ve got my eye on the prize and I’m not looking back. Life’s an adventure, and I’m all in. I just need to start enjoy the ride and appreciating the journey my day to day life!!

  • Or maybe you’ve ever feared that your dream won’t be as amazing in reality? Tell us more!!

In the symphony of my life, I confidently hold my dreams close and trust my goodness - I’m certain it will culminate in an awe-inspiring crescendo. My life comes together in a beautiful triptych: family, friends, and career. With family, I savor those moments of simple joy; shared coffee with my dad, card games with my mom, pickleball matches with my sister, boogieboarding adventures with my children, and witnessing the birth of each new day alongside my partner in crime, my husband Randy. Friendship is a canvas splashed with laughter, support, and mutual understanding. My career? It’s a harmonious blend of fulfilling work, creativity, and community contribution, where I’ve found my calling as a teacher and designer - dreams that are, thrillingly, being realized.

  • Ever feel like we’re so caught up in the hustle and bustle that we miss out on life’s simple truths?

Sure, at times, I might find myself lost in an avalanche of minor tasks, feeling drained and less efficient. Yet, perfection isn’t the end goal: it’s more about maintaining a serene mind, despite having a few unchecked boxes on my list. People won’t recall my constant completion rate, but they will certainly cherish the joyful and positive ambiance I cultivate around them.

  • Do you feel like there’s a higher power guiding you, or is it your own gut feeling leading the way?

I think that in our shared journey, it’s as if a greater force is lighting my way. I imagine God as an energy, a vibrational symphony where we’re all unique notes. When I’m in the flow, I’m playing in harmony, and it fills me with joy. Keeping an open heart, I search for the signs that whisper, “This is the path for you.” What a privilege it is to grow in this way.

  • Here’s a head-scratcher: can chasing our dreams cause our hearts to ache, even though it’s precisely what our hearts yearn for?

What a great question…chasing dreams, it’s a wild ride. We;ve all felt that thrill! Sure, it can pull at the heartstrings every now and then, especially when it feels like you’re dancing to a different beat than everyone else. But that’s the beauty of it! We’re all doing our own little dance, growing and learning at our own pace. It’s what makes us all so wonderfully unique! And when we manage to dance together, to support one another, even with our different rhythms? Now that’s magic! It’s all about keeping that dream alive, while making sure everyone feels like they’re part of the team.

  • Do you think we build emotional walls to protect our hearts from pain? If yes, do you think this tricks us into thinking we’re doing what’s best for our hearts?

I think sometimes we put up these big emotional walls to keep our hearts sage and sound from pain. It’s like our soul’s secret survival skill, ya know? We’re all just trying to find the path of least resistance to happiness, but tricking ourselves can sometimes do more harm than good. Sure, feeling down is a total bummer, but I use it as a sign that something’s not quite right in my life. I always try to figure out what’s bothering me, and what I can do to make things better. Taking action makes me feel like I’ve got some control over my life. And you know what? When I listen to that little voice in my head - my inner Jiminy Cricket - instead of trying to drown it out, it always steers me in the right direction!
