We Are Enough
We are not diminished because someone else has the same passion as us. We are not diminished because our lives do not fit into the cookie-cutter mold society tries to force us into. We are not diminished because we never got the master’s degree, we promised we would get. We are not diminished because the lives of those around us seem to be so full of adventure and excitement.
We. Are. Not. Diminished.
We. Are. Not. Less. Than.
We. Are. Not. Subpar.
We. Are. Not. Mediocre.
We are living the life before us in stride. Taking each day as it comes and unpacking the gifts it gives us. We are thriving in the space given us, even when it doesn’t look or feel that way. Just because we don’t see the roots of a tree doesn’t mean it isn’t alive. Just because life doesn’t “look” like it’s thriving doesn’t mean it isn’t. Some flowers bloom in the driest of places. Let's not count ourselves out.
We are building our lives every single day through the choices we make, the people we choose, and the space we protect and create. We are wiser now than we were 2 years ago.
WE ARE ENOUGH.
In a world that is constantly shifting and molding, it is easy to count ourselves out. It is easy to compare and let life take over. It is easy to forget all the things we are in the middle of, all the things we aren’t that are blaring at us and vying for our attention.
I know I’m guilty of this. I can get so wrapped up in everything I’m not that I fall into a pit of self-pity and remorse. Being in that space often leads me to try to be something I'm not. It causes me to miss the forest for the trees and to disdain the bigger picture. However, when I deny the invitation to complain about my reality, and instead choose to celebrate all the things that are good, right, and fulfilling, I find that I’m not as far off as I thought. I find joy right where I am instead of pining for what isn’t or was.
As we wind down the toward the end of the year, we begin transitioning into another season. We invite fall and the holidays to invade our worlds. With the holidays comes the reality that we are almost through 2022. Truth be told, the last 9 months may not look how any of us wanted. I know for me; it has been a whirlwind of really good and really "meh". But one thing I can say is this:
We aren’t failing. We aren’t missing it. Just because the last 9 months have looked so different than we'd imagined does not mean it’s wasted time. There is still time for us to pursue dreams, discover new ones, and show up fully to the life before us.
WE ARE NOT DIMINISHED.
