Finding Joy

Where can we find joy?

Can it be found in the simplicity of small tables nestled by large windows?

Can it be found in breaking the rules, and even though it’s technically dinner hour, ordering a plate full of breakfast and pretending that brunch can be all day, every day?

Can it be found in capturing the moment before me and clicking the camera on my phone?

Can it be found in the high ceilings and large windows of a restaurant; in the murals painted on the walls; in letting the aroma of bacon and French toast tickle my nose and whet my appetite?

Can it be found in being okay with the rise and fall of conversations, realizing that amicable silence is just as fulfilling?

Can it be found in trying new coffee and daydreaming?

Can it be found in feeding my craft? In dusting off an old passion and breathing life into it again?

I think so.

I believe I can find joy here and now.

I refuse to wait for the perfect moment; for the things we deem worthy to bring joy.

Instead, I choose to find it in what's in front of me.

Whether that's brunch with my love or planning all the things for my next Wellness (re)Treat.

Whether it's breathing in deep the days ahead of me or making my own granola.

Whatever it may be, I choose it.

I choose the joy it gets to give me.
